Group Shirts
I think most of you saw the sample of the sleeveless running shirt last week that Janet brought. We are thinking about getting these to wear on race day for our group. What are your thoughts?
We will have a sign up sheet tomorrow night if you are interested in purchasing one.

Heat Tips
The following are cool tips for hot days that was distributed at the Steamboat Classic race from the American Red Cross:
Try running early in the morning or later in the day
Drink like crazy- at least 8 ounces of water each hours
Acclimate with care. do this in a safe and gradual manner - limit or shorten speed sessions, keep midday runs to less than 30 minutes. You can go longeron cool monrnings or evenings. Within 2 weeks you should be fully acclimated
Go light and loose -wear light-colored, loose fitting clothing
Design a route that includes frequent water stops or use a water belt
Decrease your speed
Lower your expectations - you won't be able to run as fast as you would on a cool day
Watch what you drink - caffeine and alcohol are diuretics, puts you at a great risk for dehydration
eat meals/snacks high in water content - fruits and vegetables, After exercise, drink more than the amount of fluid that quenches thirst by continuing to drink over the next 2 hours
Any other tips?

Cancelled Run
Tonight's training as you are aware was cancelled due to the heat index. Janet and Rick was at fairgrounds just in case someone didn't get our message. There were people in other groups that showed up and walked/run. I did my run of 4 miles later this evening and when I finished, I could have filled up a bucket with the sweat pouring off of me. Please remember to drink your liquids during the day to keep hydrated. We will need to acclimate to this weather. You may need to slow your pace down and run in areas that provide plenty of shade.
Everyone have a good week of training and be safe.

The heat index may be 100 to 105 today. Be sure to drink plenty of water during the day. Our bodies are not accustom to these high temps. Your food intake should be light today as well. Nothing heavy in your stomach.
Will see you tonight.

Hopefully your workouts are going good. Any questions, please feel free to bring them tonight.
Still waiting on more team name suggestions, bring them on!!
